Live #ThePalaceLife at Palace Resorts
Just as temperatures began to dip and the long winter months made their annual appearance, I was ushered off to a Wedding Planners Concierge FAM experience in Cancun, Mexico. From the moment I checked in and throughout my entire stay, I was gobsmacked by my good fortune to be a part of such an indulgent, pampered and fulfilling experience.
My trip began at The Grand at Moon Palace, a luxurious, all-inclusive, 5-star resort located five miles away from Cancun International Airport and 20 minutes from Cancun’s downtown hotel zone. The property is simply breathtaking. With lavish, state of the art accommodations, I felt wined, dined and pampered every moment of my stay.
The Grand at Moon Palace is the perfect place for your wedding, group trip, or romantic getaway. Why? Because the resort offers first-class service that caters to each guest’s unique desires and needs. The Grand at Moon Palace was ranked as the #1 hotel amongst 190 hotels in Cancun by TripAdvisor and after experiencing it firsthand, I totally agree and understand why.
First, let me start off by talking about the food. Of all the all-inclusive resorts I have visited, The Grand at Moon Palace and every Palace Resort hotel I toured had superior cuisine! I eat a mostly vegan and vegetarian diet and that information was provided to the resort before I arrived. At every meal, I was taken care of. I never felt like an afterthought and the food served was delicious, filling, and beautifully presented. This made me beyond delighted! Most mornings, I ate at The Grand’s incredible buffet that appeals to every craving and desire. I discovered my favorite meal at the French toast bar, where I piled my plate high with carrot cake French toast topped with apple infused syrup. It. Was. Amazing. The buffet included freshly squeezed juices, made-to-order omelets, Mexican delicacies, a buffet just for children that was kiddie height, and I could go on and on. Palace Resorts even makes their own ice cream on-site so I gave up my no-dairy ban just to have a taste and it was totally worth it. Mexico is known for their vanilla because the flavor is much richer. A scoop of Palace Resort’s vanilla ice cream was the best I’ve ever eaten. (Also, Mexican vanilla makes a wonderful souvenir gift.) The Grand at Moon Palace also has an onsite Indian chef who caters to Indian wedding clients by customizing the seasoning in every dish and cooking family recipes exactly to their delight. Have you ever been served a palate cleanser with your expresso? Well, I experienced that for the first time at the Grand and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt so fancy! With in-room snacks (I loved the lime salted peanuts) and alcohol on tap, 24-hour room service, 10 restaurants (my favorite was Jade) and 12 bars serving top-shelf liquor, guests are guaranteed to fall in love with the variety of food and drink options all prepared to please any palette.
The second element that wowed me was the total sensory experience. As soon as I walked in the hotel, the aroma transported me to a place of serenity. Each area smells fresh and exotic and all the Palace properties had a unique scent to match their environment. The Grand at Moon Palace even offers an aromatherapy menu. Attendants refill the scent of your choice in your room daily and line your pillow with it at night to sooth your sleep experience. I chose lavender and slept like a baby. The resort’s aromatherapy experience is for children too! Each resort has The Playroom and when I walked in, the scent of bubblegum greeted me to my delight. As I walked around, I instantly felt giddy and flashed back to my childhood. Not to mention, the setting with its primary colors and activity centers completely catered to kids’ personalities and interests and looked like so much fun!
Another element of sensory experience was embodied by the décor which was extremely chic and luxe. I LOVE environments like that! With the beautiful chandeliers, art displays, tilework and more, it’s impossible to take a bad picture anywhere on the property and everything feels so high-end, yet comfortable. I even had a photoshoot in the restroom at The Grand that was replete with personal vanities and cozy couches. At Palace resorts, your eyes, taste buds, nose and all are pampered and in a constant state of bliss.
Outside of The Grand at Moon Palace, there are seven other properties in the Cancun area, Moon Palace Cancun Nizuc and Sunrise, Playacar Palace, Isla Mujeres Palace, Sun Palace, Beach Palace, and Le Blanc. Cozumel Palace and Moon Palace Jamaica round out the Palace resort locations.
I visited every Cancun location except for Le Blanc which was closed for renovation. From what I heard, I would love to visit that property because of its renowned, white glove, butler service and Five Diamond, luxurious accommodations. It’s for couples only. Many people choose to wed at one of the other Palace Resorts and honeymoon at Le Blanc. Those who wed there have amazingly beautiful experiences that are second to none.
Sunrise has the FlowRider® Double Wave Simulator where you can get your surf on. Ladies, be sure to wear a tank top as you may accidently flash onlookers! Nizuc has a dive tank where you can participate in scuba diving demonstrations. Guests love to rent bikes to ride along the paths that connect all three properties, Nizuc, Sunrise and The Grand.
Sun Palace is another one of Palace Resort’s couples/adults only locations. With 252 guest rooms, the location offers an intimate, luxury experience and is conveniently located towards the southern tip of the hotel zone.
My favorite feature at Beach Palace are the rooftop views! They are great locations for weddings, receptions, cocktail hours and more. As a guest, you may even opt to do yoga on the roof or on a paddleboard at the pool which is so cool! This location is family friendly and showcases beautiful sand art every day.
For a jaunt off the beaten path, take a short ferry ride to Isla Mujeres to stay at Isla Mujeres Palace, a quaint and luxurious resort for couples only. The resort has its own private ferry dock. When you arrive, reserve a golf cart to explore the island from tip to tip. It’s seven miles long and there is much to see! Visit local shops and order fresh coconut water from one of the vendors at The Zocolo, take in the goddess Ixchel statue, Iguana statue, and art installations at Punta Sur, view unique architecture like the Shell house and serene chapels and the colorful cemeteries that dot the island. It’s a fun and beautiful place to get married or have a photo shoot!
My second favorite location to The Grand at Moon Palace is Playacar Palace. When you arrive, its open-air lobby greets you and there’s a mystical looking tree right in the center. The tree hugger in me had to pose right by it for a photo! Some of the rooms have pergolas, which I LOVE! And there’s an Italian restaurant onsite that I can totally see as a wedding ceremony space. The location is decked out with beautiful chandeliers and an amazing wine display. Food service starts at five each night so a wedding would have to be held in the morning and trust me, the pictures would be amazing! Right around the corner from the hotel is 5th avenue, a bustling shopping district with street performers, restaurants and all kinds of retail. I loved the versatility of this property. One can have the tranquil setting of the resort or the live activity of 5th avenue. It’s perfect for both families and couples alike.
For anyone interested in planning a wedding or event at any of the Palace Resorts, you’re in store for a completely accommodating experience. The wedding and event planners at each of the properties are so flexible and can make anything happen for you. One told a story about a couple who sent a picture of a custom bar that they found on Pinterest and the resort built it for them especially for their wedding. They’ll do anything to make you happy, just ask! They even have a horse stable on-site so you can have the horse and carriage entrance or exit of your dreams. Fireworks, Fairy Dust, Sparklers, 5-course meals, indoor or outdoor receptions, opulent décor, any kind of delectable cuisine, you can have it at Palace Resorts and I would love to be your guide!
I am so grateful to Wedding Planning Concierge for this extraordinary experience and Gina and Rey at Palace Resorts for customizing such and informative and exhilarating adventure.
