As soon as I glanced at the list of participating restaurants I immediately consulted my foodie friend, Cary, about Fritti, an authentic Neopolitan pizzeria certified by the Verace Pizza Napoletana Association. That sounds nice and fancy, but I was most excited about my chance to eat pizza again without guilt! Besides cookies, pizza is my favorite food and with no wedding dress to worry about fitting into I was ready to go all in!
When we arrived around 7:45 on a Wednesday night, the place was packed and we wondered if that was due to the restaurant week crowd or not. The setting is really open with a grand outside patio space and that’s where we were seated. We both ordered from the special $15 menu. I got the Arancini and Funghi di Bosco pizza which has San Marzano tomato, mozzarella, crimini (button mushrooms) and portobello mushrooms with white truffle oil. Mmmm.
It didn’t take long for our food to arrive and it was all very delicious! We shared everything and as always, I liked what J.R. ordered better than mine! That Bianca pizza was insanely good and I truly believe the smoked mozzarella is what set it off. We ended our meal with coffee gelato and raspberry passion fruit sorbet and I must say that every morsel tasted like a frosty spoon full of heaven.
