I can’t remember when or how I first discovered Etsy, but I imagine I ran across the site in search of something fabulous. Now I can’t see life without it, especially when I’m in event planning mode. Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade goods, art, vintage items, craft supplies and more- think Amazon.com with artisan appeal. Millions of business owners from around the globe set up shop on Etsy and sell to consumers in search of something special.
When I have a concept in mind and need to find items to bring my vision to life I usually start with an Etsy search. I just type in something like, “monogrammed cookies” or “bejeweled cuff,” and wah-lah! Pages and pages of images related to my inquiry appear, a delicious feast for my eyes.
Here are the top five reasons why I love Etsy:
1. Easy to use- I love shopping online and Etsy makes it convenient to shop local or global right from the comfort of my couch. I have purchased items from vendors as far away as Israel and Singapore! Just search a topic, select an item, correspond with the vendor if you have any questions and choose one of the multiple payment options to make your purchase.
2. Great customer service- Since many Etsy Shop owners are small (more like tiny) business owners, they lack the funds to advertise and rely on responsiveness and great customer service to make their mark. Etsy has a great system that enables you to rate your experience and see how others have graded shop owners so you can avoid the bad ones.
